There is a discrepancy between the farms and households listed as being in Hadley Tp. The first forty farmers listed on the agriculture schedule for T4S R5W (now Hadley Tp.) are listed on the population schedules for T4S R4W (now New Salem Tp). The last sixteen farmers are listed on the population schedules for T5S R5W (now Derry Tp.) Family numbers for these farmers are given in parentheses ( ) to indicate that the numbers refer to the New Salem or Derry census. A similar discrepancy occurred on the 1860 Agriculture Schedules.
Some numbers appear to have been partially erased by the enumerator. These, along with less legible numbers are followed by a question mark (?). Blank spaces are indicated with a long dash (—).
